About Me
My name is Monika, and I’m the founder of The CraftRoom London.
Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in an environment where making things by hand was simply part of everyday life – fabrics, threads, tools, drawings and half-finished projects were always around. Much of this came from my grandmother, who not only taught me practical skills, but passed on a deep appreciation for handmade work and the quiet focus that comes with it.
Over time, this naturally grew into a lifelong relationship with making and drawing. I’ve been working with crafts for over 25 years, and drawing has been a central part of my practice for more than 15 years. I’ve explored many different creative disciplines along the way, but what has always stayed the same is my belief that creativity isn’t about talent – it’s about learning to see, to practise, and to trust the process.
Teaching became an important part of my journey because I’ve seen, again and again, how transformative structured guidance can be – especially for beginners who believe they “can’t draw” or “aren’t creative”. I care deeply about creating a learning environment that feels calm, supportive and encouraging, while still taking skills and progress seriously.
The CraftRoom London grew out of this philosophy. It’s a space designed for people to slow down, focus, and reconnect with making – without pressure, and without intimidation.
